The 2024 Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award recipient, Mayor of Ottawa Mark Sutcliffe, is a proud graduate of St. Pius X High School. His time at St. Pius X sparked a passion for volunteering that shaped his life and career dedicated to helping others.
The Distinguished Catholic Alumni Award honours a graduate who has achieved distinction in their field while reflecting the Catholic values at the heart of the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations. Former St. Pius X Principal Carrie Bowie nominated Mayor Sutcliffe, who received the award during Christian Community Day.
In a generous gesture, Mayor Sutcliffe directed the accompanying $5,000 donation to St. Pius X High School, giving back to the community that helped shape his path. His career in broadcasting, writing, and volunteerism reflects his belief that when people work together, they can accomplish far more than they could alone.
